Atlantic City Electric’s Charitable Giving and Employee Volunteers Support Hundreds of Local Community Organizations Across the Region

MAYS LANDING, N.J. (March 29, 2018) – In 2017, Atlantic City Electric contributed more than $1 million to local nonprofits, while its employees volunteered more than 14,200 hours to help hundreds of organizations throughout southern New Jersey. These contributions are part of the company's commitment to community involvement and being a good corporate citizen for the communities where its employees live and work.​

"We are proud to serve as a key partner for hundreds of nonprofit and community organizations across South Jersey," said Vince Maione, Atlantic City Electric region president. "Our responsibility extends futher than providing safe and reliable service to our customers. Through grants and employee volunteer support, we are helping organizations fulfill their important missions."

Atlantic City Electric's charitable contributions assist organizations that support education, the environment, arts and culture, and community development programs. In 2017, the company sponsored many important community organizations including the American Heart Association, American Red Cross, Boys and Girls Club, Special Olympics and United Way.  

Every charitable contribution from Atlantic City Electric also comes with a dedicated pledge of volunteers. The company's Energy for the Community program helps connect employees with volunteer opportunities throughout Atlantic City Electric's service area and recognizes their efforts. In 2017, more than 240 employees volunteered a combined total of more than 1,750 work days through the program, helping support nearly 300 organizations across South Jersey.

In 2017, Atlantic City Electric's parent company Exelon and its 34,000 employees gave more than $52 million to nonprofits and volunteered over 210,000 hours with organizations across the country. This record-breaking community giving helped make a difference in the lives of nearly 3.8 million people last year, supporting more than 8,600 nonprofit organizations across 210 cities and 17 states.
