Local Utility Workers Advocate Longer Heart Healthy Lives
MAYS LANDING, N.J. - Nearly 100 Atlantic City Electric employees from across southern New Jersey raised more than $5,000 to help the American Heart Association (AHA) in its fight to encourage the community to maintain a heart healthy diet, follow an active lifestyle and educate others about the risk factors for cardiovascular disease, the nation's #1 killer. With a company matched donation, the total amount raised was approximately $10,000.
Atlantic City Electric employees recently opted to participate by walking 1.5, 3 or 5 miles on the boardwalk in Ocean City, N.J., Atlantic County. "Opportunities such as the AHA Heart Walk help bring us closer to the communities we serve," said Atlantic City Electric Region Vice President Charles Wimberg. "We are proud that our employees recognize the tremendous importance their donations make to the American Heart Association, whose message is clear and simple: Walk more, eat well and live longer."
Atlantic City Electric, a public utility owned by Pepco Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: POM), provides safe, reliable and affordable regulated electric delivery services to more than 545,000 customers in southern New Jersey.
