Atlantic City Electric Reminds Customers of Available Funds

Customers Can Apply for Energy Assistance

MAYS LANDING, N.J. - Customers having problems paying their energy bills can find extra help this winter. Recently approved federal legislation increase d the average energy assistance amount for participants of the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) in 2009.

Below are the details for the LIHEAP program as well as other energy-assistance programs:

LIHEAP

Provides help with winter energy bills for low-income residents of New Jersey.

Universal Service Fund

Provides year-round help with electric bills for low-income residents of New Jersey.

New Jersey Lifeline Credit Program

Provides help for seniors and disabled low-income residents of New Jersey.

NJSHARES

Provides help for residents of New Jersey going through short-term financial problems.

Earned Income Tax Credit

EITC is a federal and New Jersey State wage supplement that can be claimed on the 2008 tax returns for eligible low-income working families and individuals.
