MAYS LANDING, N.J. (April 25, 2018) – A conservation period will be called Thursday, April 26, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. for Atlantic City Electric customers participating in the Energy Wise Rewards Program to test equipment prior to the peak summer season. The program, which gives customers an automatic way to save energy during the hot summer months when demand is high, is part of Atlantic City Electric's efforts to provide affordable energy service and help customers save money and energy.
For participating customers, Atlantic City Electric will cycle their air conditioner compressors off and on for short intervals during this time frame. Most customers will not notice a temperature change in their home, and it may take up to a half-hour after the test event ends to resume normal operations.
Energy Wise Rewards is a voluntary program that offers customers a choice of a web-programmable thermostat or an outdoor switch, which the energy company installs at no charge to the customer. During summer periods of peak electric demand, Energy Wise Rewards works to reduce electricity usage.
Customers receive a one-time bill reduction of $50 when Atlantic City Electric installs the Energy Wise Rewards device in their home. Atlantic City Electric customers using Energy Wise Rewards can also save money by conserving energy.
Customers can learn more about Energy Wise Rewards by calling 1-866-355-4229 or visiting energywiserewards.atlanticcityelectric.com/.
