Haddon Township’s Mokoid Tapped to Lead Atlantic City Electric’s Operations Function

MAYS LANDING, N.J. (July 12, 2018) - Atlantic City Electric has named Haddon Township resident William D. "Doug" Mokoid director of Regional Operations. In this position, Mokoid will build on Atlantic City Electric's efforts to provide safe and reliable service, including the record service reliability achieved in 2017 for the company's more than 550,000 southern New Jersey energy customers.

Mokoid returns to New Jersey after spending the last 10 years with Philadelphia-based PECO, where he ran the Philadelphia Region Construction and Maintenance organization and was previously the lead for the company's essential safety function. He also was responsible for overseeing the implementation of PECO's initiatives to enhance satisfaction among residential and business customers. Prior to his work with PECO, Mokoid spent three years with Public Service Electric and Gas as a lead engineer, where he was responsible for enhancing system data integrity, and planning and scheduling of new business work.

"We are pleased to have Doug back in New Jersey, and look forward to leveraging his deep knowledge of the energy field as we continue our efforts to enhance the experience for our customers across southern New Jersey," said Gary Stockbridge, Atlantic City Electric region president. "Doug will build on our record operational performance as we work to become one of the nation's leading next generation energy providers."

Over the last five years, Atlantic City Electric has spent hundreds of millions of dollars to modernize the local electric distribution system and enhance reliability for customers. Each day work is being performed as part of the company's ongoing efforts to further improve reliability for customers. This work includes inspecting existing infrastructure, trimming trees that could potentially impact the system, building new substations, strengthening the transmission system, and installing stronger, tree-resistant aerial cable. The company also is using innovative technologies to improve system reliability, such as specialized equipment that can automatically restore service more quickly or isolate damage.

Because of these efforts, in 2017, Atlantic City Electric customers experienced the lowest average number of electric outages in the company's history, as well as the fastest restoration times ever. The average number of outages decreased from the previous low, set in 2015, by 17 percent. When customers did experience an outage, Atlantic City Electric restored power an average of seven minutes faster than the previous record set in 2015. During the past five years, the number of electric outages has decreased by more than 40 percent and outage length has been reduced by 18 percent.
