Atlantic City Electric Begins $25 million Project to Enhance Service for Customers in Camden and Gloucester Counties

MAYS LANDING, N.J. (December 13, 2018) – Atlantic City Electric has begun work on a $25 million project to enhance electric service for more than 83,000 customers in Camden and Gloucester counties. This work, which will occur through June 2019, includes the installation of a new electric transmission line, new weather resistant poles, new modern electric devices, and enhanced tree trimming.

"We are working every day to provide safe and reliable service for our customers and communities," said Gary Stockbridge, Atlantic City Electric region president. "This essential project is part of our

ongoing work to modernize the local energy grid, an effort that has resulted in record electric service reliability for our customers."

Atlantic City Electric and local contract crews will be working to install new poles, switches, and other devices and replace more than eight miles of aerial electric cable along Williamstown/New Freedom Road in Winslow Township and along Sicklerville Road in Monroe Township. The company also will be performing targeted tree trimming and removal of damaged trees adjacent to its Tansboro substation in Winslow Township. Trees cause up to 40 percent of the power outages experienced by customers each year.

Atlantic City Electric will be working with local officials and customers to minimize the impact of this work on the local community. Minor adjustments to traffic patterns may be necessary as this work is completed.

This project is part of more than $312 million the company is spending this year to maintain and modernize the local energy grid. Atlantic City Electric customers continue to benefit from the enhancements being made to the safety and reliability of the local energy grid. Because of this work, during the last five years the frequency of outages has decreased by more than 40 percent.
