​MAYS LANDING, N.J. (May 3, 2018) – Atlantic City Electric honored its Volunteers of the Year at the company's annual Volunteer Appreciation Ceremony held at the Buena Vista Country Club. The event recognized employees who have gone above and beyond to make a difference in their communities through volunteerism in 2017.

"Our commitment to the communities we serve is very important to us and we are proud to support hundreds of nonprofit and community organizations across southern New Jersey," said Susan Coan, Atlantic City Electric region vice president. "We are extremely pleased that hundreds of our employees participate in volunteer initiatives throughout the year to support numerous organizations in the communities where we live and work, helping them fulfill their important missions."

Barbara Marshall, of Tuckerton, is a work management scheduler at Atlantic City Electric and an avid volunteer, dedicating countless hours helping care for sick infants at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, a member of Geisinger.​

"I am blessed to have a good life and I believe it's important to give back to our communities through volunteerism. I am proud to volunteer at the hospital, doing my part in providing care for the babies who need the extra attention and compassion," said Marshall. In addition to her volunteer work at the hospital, Marshall volunteers with the food pantry at the Pinelands Community Church in Tuckerton. 

Atlantic City Electric Drafting and Design Services Supervisor, Michael Giordano, of Mays Landing, mentors young people as head coach of the Mays Landing Mustangs travel baseball team, teaching life lessons through the sport he loves to coach.

"Teaching kids the importance of a good education, responsibility, having a good attitude and being a team player to achieve greater success, is of the utmost importance to me," said Giordano. Giordano also organizes fund-raising drives and contributes to the maintenance of the community's youth sports recreation fields.

Atlantic City Electric's Energy for the Community program helps connect employees with volunteer opportunities throughout Atlantic City Electric's service area. In 2017, more than 240 employees volunteered more than 14,200 hours, a combined total of more than 1,750 work days helping support nearly 300 organizations across South Jersey.

In 2017, Atlantic City Electric's parent company Exelon and its 34,000 employees gave more than $52 million to nonprofits and volunteered over 210,000 hours with organizations across the country. This record-breaking community giving helped make a difference in the lives of nearly 3.8 million people last year, supporting more than 8,600 nonprofit organizations across 210 cities and 17 states and the District of Columbia.
