Atlantic City Electric Crews Restoring Service as Damaging Winds Continue Across the Region

MAYS LANDING, N.J. (March 2, 2018) – Heavy rain, snow and severe winds, gusting up to nearly 60 mph, has interrupted electric service to more than 46,000 Atlantic City Electric customers across the region. As the high winds continue through the evening, additional outages may occur.

Atlantic City Electric has activated its Emergency Response Organization and all available personnel are responding to restore service as safely and quickly as possible. The company also has enhanced staffing in place in the company’s call centers, dispatch centers and in the field to respond to customer needs.

As of 6 p.m., Friday, about 22,700 customers remain without service with approximately 23,300 customers already having service restored. Due to the damage to electric equipment across Atlantic City Electric’s system caused by falling trees and tree limbs, estimated times of restoration are currently suspended and will be updated when possible as crews assess damage. With storms continuing to move through the region and the potential for damage to the electric system, it is too early to determine when service will be restored to all customers. Atlantic City Electric crews will continue to work around-the-clock to assess the damage and make repairs in a safe and efficient manner.

Safety is our top priority, for our employees, our customers and the communities we serve. We urge our customers to stay away from downed wires and assume any downed wire is energized. To report an outage or downed wire, call 1-800-833-7476 or report and track through our mobile app or our website at www.atlanticcityelectric.com.

Customers should be prepared for outages caused by high winds.
  • Have a flashlight with fresh batteries on each floor of your home.
  • Have a supply of bottled water and easy-to-prepare, non-perishable foods available.
  • Charge cell phones and other mobile devices.
  • More tips are available at www.atlanticcityelectric.com.
