MAYS LANDING, N.J. - Representatives of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Atlantic City and Gloucester County, and Wow! Science Camp have done in-depth training to learn important skills that bring science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education to life year-round.
Atlantic City Electric has partnered with Discovery Education to launch the Atlantic City STEM Club, which will provide STEM curriculum to facilitators of Boys & Girls Club and Wow! Science Camp on educationally relevant, evergreen content and activities targeting grades five through eight with a focus on energy and urban
infrastructure. The training sessions were conducted Tuesday at the Borgata Hotel Casino.
"We are excited to partner with Discovery Education to provide STEM education to Boys & Girls Club and Wow! Science Camp, which will then provide this vital information to the young people each serves," said Vince Maione, Atlantic City Electric region president. "We want to engage kids in learning these important skills in a fun environment to help ensure a brighter future."
The Atlantic City Electric STEM Club is a dynamic series of standards-aligned STEM curricula designed to engage students in science, technology, engineering and math. Created in collaboration with leading educators, the STEM Club features hands-on and virtual labs, engineering challenges, digital investigations, videos and career connections - all designed to immerse kids in the grand challenges of science set forth by the National Academy of Engineering.
