MAYS LANDING, N.J. - As part of ongoing reliability enhancements, Atlantic City Electric has completed construction of a new distribution substation located on the north side of Moss Mill Road and west of Wrangleboro Road in Port Republic, N.J.
The new substation will enhance reliability for residents of Galloway Township and Port Republic.
"Atlantic City Electric is committed to providing our communities with safe and reliable service," said Vince Maione, Atlantic City Electric region president. "The new substation will further improve service reliability for our customers in Port Republic and Galloway Township and help support the current and future demand for electricity in this area."
Before the new substation, power to the area was delivered through distribution lines that were fed from a substation approximately 4 miles away. The new substation is located in the center of the area it will serve, and power is now delivered through shorter distribution lines, which will allow for quicker restoration in the event of an outage. The substation is also located adjacent to already existing transmission and distribution lines, which eliminated the need to obtain new right of way and construct new lines.
