MAYS LANDING, N.J. - Atlantic City Electric has completed construction of a cable replacement project in Brigantine, N.J. A new 23kV power cable was installed to replace a 23 kV submarine cable to provide a new power source to further improve reliability for residents of Brigantine Island.
"We are committed to providing safe and reliable electric service to our customers," said Vince Maione, Atlantic City Electric region president. "The newly installed cable is better equipped to handle peak load conditions during the summer months and will help enhance reliability to the residents and visitors of Brigantine."
Atlantic City Electric worked with various agencies including the New Jersey Department of Transportation, South Jersey Transportation Authority, New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, and various law enforcement and municipal offices from Atlantic City and Brigantine to obtain the necessary approvals, permits and support to construct the new cable installation on the Brigantine Bridge (Route 87). Atlantic City Electric collaborated with these entities to complete the project prior to peak summer load conditions.
