MAYS LANDING, NJ - Atlantic City Electric is closely monitoring today's approaching winter storm. The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning until 6 a.m. Wednesday. A wind chill advisory will be in effect from 1 a.m. until 11 a.m. Wednesday. The total accumulation for our region is expected to be several inches.

Heavy wet snow can weigh down tree limbs and bring them into contact with power lines causing power outages. Wet snow can also adversely affect saturated soil and allow trees already weakened by previous storms to fall onto power lines and equipment to cause power outages. Outages can also occur due to drivers skidding into utility poles along icy and snow-covered roads.

Atlantic City Electric will schedule and adjust its workforce with the timing of the weather and any resulting customer outages. Atlantic City Electric has about 135 internal linemen and also contractors already working on its system who are available if needed. We will work around the clock to restore any outages that may occur, but customers need to be prepared for the possibility of power outages, especially given the forecast for bitter cold.

Atlantic City Electric is in contact with the local County and District Emergency Management. Customers are asked to please call in any outages and stay away from any down wires. To report outages and/or downed wires, please call 1-800-833-7476, follow the prompts, and please ask for a call back to confirm that power has been restored.
