Honors Volunteers of the Year

MAYS LANDING, N.J. - Atlantic City Electric recognized approximately 100 employees during its recent Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast at the Buena Vista Country Club, Buena, N.J. The annual event honors Company employees who make a difference in their respective communities through volunteerism. George Olivio, of Rosenhayn, and Doug Chapman, of Woodstown, were named the Atlantic City Electric 2013 Volunteers of the Year.

"Our commitment to the community is very important. We are thrilled so many of our employees participate in events and volunteer initiatives each year to support numerous organizations in the communities we live and work," said Vince Maione, Region President, Atlantic City Electric.

Long-time Atlantic City Electric employee George Olivio served the company for 41 years before retiring December 1, 2013. He also serves the community as a volunteer firefighter with Rosenhayn Fire and Rescue where he has volunteered for the past 45 years. "Volunteering is important to me. I enjoy doing it and helping people at the same time," said Olivio. He was recently named Volunteer of the Year at Atlantic City Electric's recent employee Volunteer Appreciation event for his role in leading the company's Safety Trailer demonstrations that provide interactive safety presentations for the community including schools and local fire departments.

Doug Chapman, also named a Volunteer of the Year, is a recent retiree after serving the Company for more than 24 years. Since 1999, Chapman spearheaded Atlantic City Electric's Meals on Wheels Program. "Volunteering makes me feel good and is the right thing to do," said Chapman. He thanks those who introduced him to volunteerism when he started with the Company and believes it's important to mentor new employees on the importance of volunteering.

Atlantic City Electric's Volunteer Initiative Program (VIP) is designed to encourage and recognize employee participation in various volunteer activities, such as organized fundraising walks; community youth sports leagues and volunteer fire companies.

In addition to employees who volunteer to support NJ causes including cleaning beaches, organizing clothing and toy drives, and participating in numerous fundraising walks, Atlantic City Electric has approximately 30 employees who volunteer in the community as first responders including volunteer firefighters and emergency medical technicians.
