Atlantic City Electric Golf Classic Funds To Benefit Local Charities

Event Raised $123,000 for South Jersey Nonprofit Groups

Mays Landing, N.J.- More than 175 golfers participated in Atlantic City Electric's Eighth Annual Charity Golf Classic Sept. 23 at the Galloway National Golf Club, raising $123,000 to be disseminated among this year's beneficiaries Big Brothers Big Sisters, Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) for Children and the Val Skinner Foundation - LIFE LPGA Pros in the Fight.

"We are pleased that once again that the dollars raised by this annual event will provide much needed financial assistance to very worthwhile social service groups," said Vince Maione, Atlantic City Electric Region President. "This fundraising effort was coordinated through our company's Community Foundation which targets money to organizations that help support our communities in the areas of health, youth development, education and low income advocacy."

The LPGA's Val Skinner and hall-of-famer Nancy Lopez provided golf tips to those participating in the event's golf clinic. LPGA golfers Ryann O'Toole and Anna Nordqvist teed off with participants. Big Brothers Big Sisters provides children facing adversity with strong and enduring relationships that hopefully change their lives for the better. CASA for Children is dedicated to ensuring that abused and neglected children living in foster care are placed in safe, permanent homes.
The Val Skinner Foundation works to eliminate breast cancer with a focus on providing younger women with information about the importance of early detection and healthy breast care practices.

Since its inception in 2006, the Pepco Holdings, Inc. Community Foundation's Atlantic City Electric Golf Classic has raised more than $970,000 for nonprofit organizations in South Jersey.
