Atlantic City Electric Names 2013 Golf Classic Beneficiaries

Southern New Jersey Community Based Organizations to Receive Supporting Funds
MAYS LANDING, N.J. - Atlantic City Electric will hold its Eighth Annual Charity Golf Classic September 23, 2013, at the Galloway National Golf Club, Galloway, New Jersey. All proceeds will benefit this year's Golf Classic recipients Big Brothers Big Sisters; Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) For Children; and the Val Skinner Foundation - LIFE LPGA Pros in the Fight.
Since its inception in 2006, the Pepco Holdings, Inc. Community Foundation's Atlantic City Electric Golf Classic has raised more than $850,000 for nonprofit organizations in South Jersey. The PHI Community Foundation donates funds to organizations that help support the community in the areas of health, youth development, educational support and low income advocacy.
Big Brothers Big Sisters mission is to provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring professionally supported relationships that change their lives for the better, forever. Big Brothers Big Sisters mentoring program sets the standard for mentoring best practices in the country delivering high impact for the children it serves. The community based mentoring and school based mentoring programs served over 900 youth in Burlington, Camden, Cumberland, Gloucester and Salem counties last year.
CASA for Children has served children living in foster care since 2001 with the mission to speak on behalf of abused and neglected children in the foster care system. The organization is dedicated to ensuring these children are placed in safe permanent homes as quickly as possible. Funding from the Atlantic City Electric Golf Classic will assist CASA in implementing its Family Search and Connect training for eight to 10 CASA volunteers and staff to help eight to 10 foster youth find valuable connections that will empower them, gain self-esteem and the transition from foster care to independent living.
The Val Skinner Foundation's mission is to help eliminate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease, while focusing on reaching a younger generation of women with information about the importance of early detection and healthy breast care practices. The Val Skinner Foundation led by LPGA veteran and founder, Val Skinner, co-conceptualized the young women's initiative with Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the Cancer Institute of New Jersey. This year, LPGA Pros in the Fight are raising funds for the launch of phase ll of their national campaign "The Young Women's Initiative." This initiative involves a multifaceted approach to educating young women and other audiences regarding awareness, breast cancer risks and early detection. Funding from the Atlantic City Electric Golf Classic will assist in the expansion of the education program into southern New Jersey schools.
This year's title sponsor for Atlantic City Electric's 2013 Charity Golf Classic is Cooper Levenson. The presenting sponsor is Montgomery, McCracken, Walker & Rhodes, LLP. Platinum sponsors include Arthur R. Henry, Inc.; IBEW Local Union 351; and Kline Construction.
