Mays Landing, N.J. - Atlantic City Electric restored service to the majority of approximately 35,000 customers affected by the wintry mix of high wind and rain. Atlantic City Electric will continue to work to restore remaining customers as quickly and safely as possible.

As of 1p.m. there were fewer than 700 customers out of service across the service territory. Power is expected to be restored to the majority of these customers by midnight tonight.

On Stone Harbor Boulevard in Middle Township, powerful winds gusts knocked down numerous utility poles. Power has been restored to all but a small number of these customers. The remaining customers are expected to have electric service by end of day Friday, March 8. Restoration of the downed poles is expected to be complete by Friday.

"We thank our customers for their patience as we worked to restore power," said Vince Maione, Atlantic City Electric Region President. "We also thank our crews for their efforts in restoring power to our customers as quickly as possible."

The hardest hit areas were Cape May and Atlantic counties, where high winds and tree limbs brought down poles and wires. In one instance during the height of the storm, service was interrupted to about 19,000 customers in parts of Ventnor, Margate and Longport and the southern end of Atlantic City.
