Atlantic City Electric Partners with Red Cross

Pleasantville, N.J., Nov. 2, 2012 - The American Red Cross Southern Shore Chapter is proud to announce Atlantic City Electric's generous $50,000 gift in support of Red Cross disaster relief.
"Atlantic City Electric is a longtime partner with the local Red Cross especially in times of disaster and response," said Carol Cohen, Executive Director, American Red Cross Southern Shore Chapter. "From inviting the Red Cross to join their media tours and press conferences, to their generous financial support, Atlantic City Electric truly embodies the spirit of a community partner."
"Atlantic City Electric and the Pepco Holdings family is proud to support and partner with the Red Cross in our company's continuous effort to assist disaster-impacted survivors in southern New Jersey," said Vince Maione, Region President of Atlantic City Electric.
"The hard work, dedication, kindness and constant comfort provided to those in need make the Red Cross such an invaluable member of our community. We are honored to help them continue their mission," Maione added.
Thanks to support from partners like Atlantic City Electric, the Red Cross is able to serve the community. This generosity allows the Red Cross to provide immediate emergency assistance in times of disasters like Hurricane Sandy.
As of Wednesday night in the state of New Jersey, the American Red Cross supported 27 shelters, provided more than 3,800 overnight stays and had served more than 62,000 meals. The Red Cross will continue to support our friends and neighbors who may be unable to return home quickly, and will hand out clean-up kits for those who are allowed to return home.
This generous gift from Atlantic City Electric will help the Red Cross continue to answer the call in times of need.
About the American Red Cross
The American Red Cross shelters, feeds and provides emotional support to victims of disasters; supplies nearly half of the nation's blood; teaches lifesaving skills; provides international humanitarian aid; and supports military members and their families. The Red Cross is a charitable organization - not a government agency - and depends on volunteers and the generosity of the American public to perform its mission.
