Boy Scouts of America Recognize 2012 Distinguished Citizens of the Year

Ronnie Town of Atlantic City Electric is Honored

MAYS LANDING, N.J. - The Boy Scouts of America Southern New Jersey Council has named Ronnie Town, of Marmora, Senior Public Affairs Manager, Atlantic City Electric, a recipient of the 2012 Distinguished Citizens of the Year for the BaySea District. Town and Douglas J. Heun, of Friedman LLP, were honored at a reception October 16 at Avalon Links Restaurant, Cape May Court House, New Jersey.

"I am extremely honored to receive this prestigious award from the Boy Scouts of America which teaches tremendous values to the young people it serves," said Town. "I thank my co-workers, family and friends for their continuous support, and Atlantic City Electric which encourages volunteerism and recognizes the importance of making a positive impact in our communities."

The "Ideal Boy Scout" statue is presented annually to community leaders who exemplify the ideals of the Boy Scouts of America as expressed in the Scout Law and Oath. Heun and Town were selected as this year's honorees for their outstanding leadership, volunteer efforts, and service to numerous organizations and the community.

Town is Chair of the Cape May County Child Placement Review Board; Secretary of the American Red Cross Southern Shore Chapter; President of the Atlantic City Electric Quarter Century Club; Secretary of the Atlantic City Electric Political Action Committee; and is on the Board of Directors of the Ocean City Regional Chamber.

Since 2006, honorees have included Senator Jeff Van Drew; Daniel Beyel, Former Freeholder Director, Cape May County; Thomas Tower, of Action Supply; Will and Jack Morey, of the Morey Organization; Charlie Pessagno, of Marsh McLennan Agency; Bill Kindle, of Kindle Auto Plaza; and Leonard Desiderio, Cape May County Freeholder and Mayor of Sea Isle City.

The 2012 Distinguished Citizen Reception was co-chaired by scouting supporters James R. Blake, Treasurer and CFO, the Morey Organization; and Vicki Clark, President of the Cape May County Chamber of Commerce.
