Contractors and Developers Hear the Latest about New Jersey's Solar Power Industry

Atlantic City Electric Holds Solar Forum

MAYS LANDING, N.J. - To help maintain a strong and viable solar market in New Jersey, solar contractors and developers recently received an update on New Jersey's solar power industry and heard what Atlantic Electric did to help streamline the connection process for customers. The discussion occurred at the company's Green Power Connection Forum at Rowan University, Sept. 25.

Although Atlantic City Electric has been helping customers convert to solar energy for many years, over the past three years, the company has seen an increase in customer interest. In 2011, Atlantic City Electric was ranked fifth in the nation by the Solar Electric Power Association for new megawatts of solar connected. Since the recognition, the Company has grown to over 84 megawatts of solar and has over 3,500 active solar accounts.

"It is important that our region remains a leader in the solar market because the industry brings a solid source of jobs and creates clean and renewable power," said Susan Coan, Region Vice President for Atlantic City Electric. "The purpose of the Forum was to bring our Green Power Connection team of experts and the solar contractors and developers together to discuss the future of the industry and how we can work together."

The Company also unveiled plans to create a Solar Advisory Council. The Advisory Council will consist of solar contractors and developers and Company experts. The purpose will be to help identify new ideas, refine new interconnection processes, define and communicate best practices and help identify industry changes.

If anyone is interested in solar, the Company urges you to not make the significant financial commitment to a solar power system until all approvals and requirements to connect with Atlantic City Electric's system have been met.
