Donation to Support Communities' Needs as Storm Restoration Effort Continues

MAYS LANDING, N.J. - The American Red Cross Southern New Jersey Chapters immediately began providing emergency assistance to those affected by the weekend's violent windstorm that wreaked havoc on many communities throughout southern New Jersey.

In support of these efforts, Atlantic City Electric today donated $25,000 to the Red Cross Disaster Relief.

Atlantic City Electric and the Red Cross work hand in hand to ensure the community is prepared for any disaster-whether it is a destructive windstorm, a hurricane, a blizzard, or flooding. Both the Red Cross and Atlantic City Electric encourage residents to take steps to ensure southern New Jersey residents, businesses and travelers are as safe as possible before, during, and after a disaster. Following a disaster, the American Red Cross provides immediate emergency assistance to those affected.

"Atlantic City Electric is extremely grateful to the Red Cross and all the volunteers working tirelessly to provide basic needs to those impacted by the destruction that hit our community over the weekend," said Vince Maione, President, Atlantic City Electric Region. "Together, we will get through this massive rebuild of both the electrical system and our ravaged communities."

At a meeting today with Lt. Governor Kim Guadagno, county and local public officials, Maione confirmed Atlantic City Electric's commitment to its communities stating the monetary donation will support ongoing disaster relief efforts in those areas hardest hit by the storm. It will help to provide much needed water and ice at the cooling centers located in Atlantic, Cumberland, Cape May, Salem and Gloucester counties.

"We greatly appreciate Atlantic City Electric's monetary support, which will enable us to continue to staff cooling centers for residents still impacted by that horrific storm," said Joyce Skradzinski, Executive Director, the Red Cross South Jersey Chapter.
