Significant Progress Made, Work Continues Until Completed
MAYS LANDING, N.J. - Atlantic City Electric continues to make progress in restoring power to customers who lost electricity during this morning's severe thunderstorms. At the peak of the storms, about 13,000 customers lost power. As of 4:30 this afternoon, about 460 customers are still without electric service. Most of the outages at this time are in Gloucester and Cumberland counties. There was significant damage to the company's electric system because of lightning strikes on equipment and trees falling onto power lines. "Our crews continue to make headway in restoring power and we will continue to use all employees and support personnel as needed until all of our customers have electric service," said Vince Maione, Atlantic City Electric Region President. "Our goal is to have the majority of customers back in service by late tonight, however there could be some small pockets of outages that might not be cleared up until sometime on Saturday afternoon."Customers are urged to report outages by calling 1-800-833-7476. Customers can also receive outage updates by visiting www.atlanticcityelectric.com, following us on Facebook and Twitter at ACElecConnect and downloading our mobile app at www.atlanticcityelectric.com/mobileapp.
