Early Morning Storms Cause Widespread Power Outages
MAYS LANDING, N.J. - Atlantic City Electric continues to repair the widespread damage to its electrical system caused by severe thunderstorms that struck the region early this morning. Assessment teams are surveying the damage to help guide the restoration work. A full complement of crews, including tree trimming and support personnel, are working as quickly and as safely as possible to restore power to affected customers.
"At the height of the storm, about 13,000 customers lost power. As of 9 a.m. today, we restored service to about half of those customers. We plan to have power restored to the majority of the other customers by late this evening," said Vince Maione, Atlantic City Electric Region President. "However, there could be some localized outages that might not be repaired until early Saturday."
