Margate Bridge Causeway to Close Temporarily April 25

Atlantic City Electric to Replace Storm-Damaged Pole; Appreciates Motorists' Patience

MAYS LANDING, N.J. - Atlantic City Electric said today that on Wednesday, April 25, crews will replace a broken pole on the Margate - Northfield Boulevard - which was damaged by the storm that swept through the region Sunday.

The storm damaged a utility pole which is located adjacent to the bridge that spans Whirlpool Channel along the causeway.

In addition to utility crews the utility plans to use a barge and divers to assist in replacement of the broken pole. Atlantic City Electric has received the necessary permits to do the work with the least amount of environmental impact. Given the extent of the work involved, the bridge is expected to be closed for a minimum of 4 hours, between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., provided there are no unexpected problems during the pole replacement.

Individuals who need to travel during this time to the mainland are encouraged to travel south over the Longport Bridge or north through Atlantic City. Atlantic City Electric apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause. The company is coordinating with local police during the effort.
