Atlantic City Electric Restores Power to more than 99 percent of Customers Impacted by Hurricane Irene

Utility Urges Customers to Continue to Report Power Outages

MAYS LANDING, N.J. - With power restored to more than 99 percent of customers impacted by Hurricane Irene, Atlantic City Electric urges all customers without power to continue to report outages.

The company continues to dispatch crews to localized outage areas in parts of southern New Jersey, where the extensive damage associated with these outages makes restoring service especially challenging. The majority of remaining outages affect individual customers. Heavily damaged areas where Atlantic City Electric continues to work today (8/31/11) include Glassboro, Bridgeton and Pleasantville.

Other areas that recorded high outage numbers during and after the storm include: Atlantic, Cape May and Gloucester counties. Large fallen trees and significant flooding caused most of the damage to the electrical equipment in these areas.

Atlantic City Electric appreciates customers' patience and cautions that new outages may occur as tree limbs continue to fall and disrupt service and crews switch main power lines off and on to allow them to work safely.

Atlantic City Electric expects to restore service to all of the estimated 145,000 customers who were impacted by the hurricane by midnight Thursday. However, most of the remaining customers without power will have their service restored before that time.

Customers may report outages at or by calling 1-800-833-7476.

To keep up-to-date, customers are encouraged to visit the Atlantic City Electric website frequently at and review the outage map, follow us at and listen to local radio stations for updates.

Atlantic City Electric, a public utility owned by Pepco Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: POM), provides safe, reliable and affordable regulated electric delivery services to more than 548,000 customers in southern New Jersey.
