Tree Line USA Award Stems from Commitment to Tree Care
MAYS LANDING, N.J - Atlantic City Electric was named a Tree Line USA Utility. The utility was selected for this prestigious award by the Arbor Day Foundation for its leadership in caring for trees. Atlantic City Electric's State Relations Director Susan Coan and Manager Environmental Planning Dana Small will attend the State of New Jersey 2011 Arbor Day Celebration in Freehold Township, N.J., on April 29, to accept the award from the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection.
The Tree Line USA program is sponsored by the Arbor Day Foundation in cooperation with the National Association of State Foresters. The program recognizes utilities that demonstrate practices that protect and enhance America's urban forests. Some examples include providing a quality tree care program, annual worker training in quality tree care practices and a tree planting and public education program.
"Atlantic City Electric is committed to ensuring that our workers are properly trained in quality tree care practices and in advising our customers on the appropriate trees when planting near our utility lines." said Vince Maione, Atlantic City Electric Region President. "Properly pruned and maintained trees also contribute to increased reliability of service for our customers."
The Arbor Day Foundation, a nonprofit education organization, is dedicated to tree planting and environmental stewardship.
