State Organization Receives Funding for Environmental Stewardship in Cape May

MAYS LANDING, N.J. - Atlantic City Electric is donating $25,000 to the New Jersey Audubon Society to support restoration of forest and wetland habitats for wildlife at Cape May Point State Park. A presentation ceremony will be held Sat., Oct. 30 at 10 a.m. beside the Hawk Watch platform at Cape May Point State Park, 299 Lighthouse Avenue in Cape May Point, N.J.

Thomas Gilmore, President, New Jersey Audubon Society, said the project is part of a global effort to identify and conserve areas that are important for maintaining bird populations. As forest and wetland habitats are lost to development, wildlife populations dwindle, something that these projects seek to prevent.

"Atlantic City Electric appreciates the opportunity to donate this money to help the New Jersey Audubon Society and community volunteers in their efforts to enhance wildlife habitats in this area," said Atlantic City Electric Region Vice President Charlie Wimberg. "It's another opportunity to show our commitment to the communities we serve."

The New Jersey Audubon Society, local residents and other volunteers work together identifying, restoring and monitoring important bird areas and advocating for good land stewardship in their communities.
