Employee Volunteers Recognized for Community Service
MAYS LANDING, N.J. - Atlantic City Electric's Volunteer Initiative Program (VIP) Council recently presented its second annual Volunteer of the Year Award to Overhead Lineperson Marvin Pierce Sr., and Overhead Line Helper Marvin Pierce Jr., of Fairfield Township, Cumberland County. This award was created to help promote and honor ACE employees who devote their time to making a difference in communities we serve.
The VIP Council, whose members consist of company employees, is dedicated to promoting volunteerism and making a difference in the communities throughout the company's service territory. Each year, the council reviews nominees and selects the award winners.
"These men go above and beyond the call of duty on a daily basis," said Bert Lopez, Public Affairs Manager and Regional VIP Coordinator. "Atlantic City Electric is extremely proud of the countless hours both have committed to the communities we serve."
Marvin Sr. has been a volunteer fire fighter for more than twenty-two years and currently serves as a council member in Fairfield Township. His son, Marvin Jr., has been a volunteer fire fighter for more than six years and, in 2008, was voted firefighter of the year by the Gouldtown Fire Company.
