Donald Elmer Recognized for Leadership and Service
MAYS LANDING, N.J. - Atlantic City Electric recently presented its third annual Merit of Excellence Award for Commitment to Public Safety posthumously to Donald Elmer for his outstanding leadership and service to public safety in southern New Jersey.
Elmer worked in the Camden County Department of Public Safety where he served as the Director of Communications and Emergency Management Coordinator. He also served as president and treasurer of the State Association of County Emergency Management Coordinators and Deputy Coordinators. Elmer also was a past president of the Cherry Hill Policeman's Benevolent Association.
"This award was created to help promote and honor an individual or organization that has committed time and talent to the residents and visitors in our region," said Tom Born, Atlantic City Electric Manager of Emergency Management. "It could not have been given to a more deserving individual who continuously gave in the name of safety and emergency preparedness."
The award was presented at the New Jersey Emergency Preparedness Conference at the Tropicana Hotel and accepted by Elmer's wife, Linda. Atlantic City Electric supports the conference through its Emergency Services Partnership Program, which provides resources for safety initiatives, education, recruitment and retention activities, and scholarship opportunities for police, fire, and emergency management officials.
