Atlantic City Electric Responds to State's Stimulus Request

Utility's Energy Efficiency Proposal to Help Revitalize Economy

MAYS LANDING, N.J. -Atlantic City Electric recently filed a proposal with the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (BPU) to develop six energy efficiency programs to help customers reduce their energy bills and help revitalize the state's economy.

The filing represents the second of two proposals the company has made in response to a request by Gov. Jon Corzine. Under the request, the governor has asked all New Jersey utilities to accelerate spending on capital improvements and initiate utility-run energy efficiency programs to support the economic stability of the state and stimulate job growth.

Pending approval by the NJBPU, Atlantic City Electric expects to spend more than $10 million in energy efficiency projects. The projects are consistent with the company's Blueprint for the Future which is an ambitious program for investing in innovative technology and new energy efficiency programs. The Blueprint will give customers the tools, technology and information they need to better manage their energy use, save money and help protect the environment.

The projects offer rebates, incentives and financing packages for the purchase and installation of energy efficient equipment and comprehensive energy audits.

"In addition to stimulating the economy in South Jersey, these programs will provide our residential and non-residential customers with access to energy efficiency programs that will help lower energy use and in turn, reduce their monthly energy bills. " said Ken Parker, Atlantic City Electric Region President.

Atlantic City Electric proposes to recover program costs through a surcharge which is estimated to have a bill impact of less than one percent.
