Charitable Organization Receives Food and Funds to Support Families in Southern NJ

MAYS LANDING, N.J. - Atlantic City Electric recently presented about a thousand pounds of food and a check for $1,000 dollars to the Community Food Bank of New Jersey, Southern Branch. The presentation was made at the Food Bank's warehouse in Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey.

Employees at the utility's Glassboro, Winslow and Pleasantville offices collected food and donations totaling over $350 dollars, all of which were also presented.  "The Food Bank has a long history of helping those less fortunate, said Atlantic City Electric Region Vice President Charlie Wimberg. "They have made a tremendous contribution to raising the awareness of hunger and poverty in our communities.

Evelyn Benton, Community Food Bank Branch Director said, "Every holiday season, we depend on companies like Atlantic City Electric and its wonderful employees to help fulfill the thousands of requests for food baskets received each season. We greatly appreciate this donation and are proud that Atlantic City Electric and their employees have chosen to support us."

The Community Food Bank of New Jersey distributes an average of 75,000 pounds of groceries every week with an annual distribution of more than 3.9 million pounds of food and grocery items reaching the needy throughout southern New Jersey.
