Atlantic City Electric Comments on Draft Energy Master Plan

Company's Blueprint for the Future Will Assist in Meeting State's Goals

MAYS LANDING, N.J. - Atlantic City Electric today reiterated the company's support for the New Jersey draft Energy Master Plan (EMP) and called for increasing energy efficiency, expanding renewable energy, exploring additional nuclear power and instituting a bill stabilization adjustment. Comments were presented today at the third public EMP hearing before the Board of Public Utilities (BPU). The hearing was held at Rowan University's Tohill Auditorium in Glassboro, New Jersey.

Wayne Barndt, Atlantic City Electric's Manager of Regulatory Strategy and Policy stated that the goals in the draft EMP address New Jersey's two critical energy challenges: the rising cost of energy and the impact of energy use on the environment. He also noted that at the same time, customers are expecting more from their utility company when it comes to providing reliable electric service.

In order to meet the state's energy challenges, Atlantic City Electric has a plan called the "Blueprint for the Future." The Blueprint complements the state's plan and will assist in meeting many of the plan's key goals. Atlantic City Electric's Blueprint includes advanced metering and related technology infrastructure, new demand-side management and renewable energy programs as well as utility-managed energy efficiency and conservation programs. Implementation of these elements will ensure the plan's goals are achieved and sustained.

Atlantic City Electric concluded their comments by noting that the company looks forward to participating in the finalization and implementation of the draft Energy Master Plan in the near future.
