MAYS LANDING, N.J. - Atlantic City Electric has selected the beneficiaries of its 3rd Annual Fall Charity Golf Classic. Selected to receive a major portion of this year's net proceeds are the American Heart Association, American Red Cross and Clean Ocean Action.
"Since its inception, the charity Golf Classic has raised over $225,000 which has been donated to charities throughout the region," said Kenneth Parker, President, Atlantic City Electric Region. "Southern New Jersey's business community already has let us know it values this initiative that benefits our region's communities."
Deborah C. VanSant , Regional Director, American Heart Association - Southern New Jersey said, " The American Heart Association is truly honored and delighted to have been selected as a major beneficiary. This donation will help make a heart healthy difference in our fight against Heart Disease and Stroke, our community's, New Jersey's and our Nation's #1 and #3 leading causes of death and disability."
"We appreciate Atlantic City Electric's commitment to the community and to the Red Cross' mission of disaster preparedness and response. The proceeds will enable chapters to meet the disaster-caused needs of residents throughout the region. We look forward to another successful tournament," said Pamela Grites, Executive Director, American Red Cross.
"A clean Jersey Shore is the energy source for our environmental and economic health," said Cindy Zipf, Executive Director of Clean Ocean Action. "Citizens are the key to a greener world and it starts at home, from reducing energy use to non-point source pollution. We greatly appreciate this support which will empower us to engage people in programs to help reduce pollution and the effects of climate change," she added.
The 2008 Atlantic City Electric Charity Golf Classic will be held September 8 at the Marriott Seaview Country Club Resort in Galloway, New Jersey. Seaview is one of the premier golf facilities in the region.
