Atlantic City Electric Reminds Customers to Play It Safe

Mays Landing, N.J.  - Atlantic City Electric is reminding homeowners and business owners to play it safe when someone claiming to represent a company contacts them either in person or by telephone.

"Many companies, including Atlantic City Electric, will contact consumers in person or on the phone for various reasons and it is important that customers take precautions to verify the person contacting them is affiliated with the company," said Delmarva spokesperson Betty Kennedy.  "If someone claiming to be an Atlantic City Electric representative comes to your door, look for a marked Atlantic City Electric vehicle and ask to see an identification card.  This card will clearly show the company logo and a photo of the employee.  If contacted by telephone, customers should not hesitate to ask a series of questions to help verify that an actual company agent is calling them."

All Atlantic City Electric representatives making outbound calls will have access to customer account information and will be willing to give you their name and the account information you request.  Atlantic City Electric representatives will never insist that a credit card be used for payment.

If you have any doubt about the validity of a person's claim to represent Atlantic City Electric, please call us immediately at 1-800-642-3780.  The company will verify whether the person who contacted you was an actual representative.
