Lewes, Del. - In order to ensure the safe relocation of an electric transmission pole, customers in the area of Lewes, Del., will experience a power outage from 12 midnight until 5 a.m. on Monday, April 18, 2005. The power interruption will affect approximately 200 Delmarva Power customers along Savannah Road between Wescoats Corner and Cape Henlopen High School, as well as customers served by the Lewes Board of Public Works.
The pole will be moved in order to accommodate the construction of a turn lane for a new shopping center. Due to safety reasons, this work cannot take place while the power lines are energized. Delmarva Power chose the overnight hours for the outage so as to minimize the impact to customers.
"We will make every effort to keep this outage as brief as possible without compromising the safety of our workers," said Richard G. Work, vice president of Delmarva Power. "We apologize for any inconvenience while this work takes place and thank customers for their patience and understanding."
If customers experience a lengthier outage than expected, they should call Delmarva Power's electric outage reporting system at 800-898-8045.
Delmarva Power, a subsidiary of Pepco Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: POM), provides safe, reliable and affordable regulated electric and natural gas delivery services to more than 500,000 customers in Delaware, Maryland and Virginia.
