Having trouble paying your energy bills? Atlantic City Electric wants to help. At Atlantic City Electric, we’re committed to helping customers who may be facing financial hardship. Together with our community partners, we’re connecting New Jersey residents with millions of dollars in grants — that you don’t have to pay back — to manage energy costs.

We also offer flexible payment options like budget billing and payment plans.

Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)

Who is eligible
Very low-income residents

Program overview
This program helps provide finances for heating and cooling costs, and arranges emergency heating system services and emergency fuel assistance.

Universal Service Fund (USF)

Who is eligible
Low-income residents

Program overview
This program helps residents afford their natural gas and electric costs by lowering their bill amounts.

Payment Assistance for Gas and Electric (PAGE)

The Public Board of Utilities

Who is eligible
Low to moderate-income residents that meet the following criteria:

  • Are not receiving LIHEAP or USF benefits for the current season
  • Have receipt of a past due bill notice, disconnection notice, or are currently disconnected
  • Have made two payments of at least $25 within the past six months, or $75 ($150 if for a combined gas and electric account) in the past 90 days

Program overview
This program provides credit for natural gas and electric bills for residents who have receipt of a past due bill notice, receipt of a disconnection notice, or who are currently disconnected.

​Lifeline

Program provider
The New Jersey Department of Human Services

Who is eligible
Low to moderate-income residents of 65 years or older or 18 years of age or older and receiving Social Security Title II Disability benefits.

Program overview
This program provides a $225 credit on electric and gas utility bills.

New Jersey SHARES

New Jersey SHARES, Inc.

Who is eligible
Moderate-income residents

Program overview
This program provides financial assistance for residents who are in need of temporary financial assistance and can provide proof of a good-faith payment history.

Helping Hands

Who is eligible
Eligibility based on income and need

Program overview
If you are having difficulty paying your Atlantic City Electric bill, you may be eligible to receive a grant of up to $200 from our Helping Hands Energy Assistance Program.
