Atlantic City Electric Fall Charity Golf Classic
Local Charities Will Benefit
Our foundation motto is “Caring for Our Communities” and our goal is straight forward. We seek to strengthen and support communities in southern New Jersey by providing financial support to selected non-profit agencies. Our focus is on the areas of health, youth development, educational support and low-income advocacy.
Proceeds from this year's event will be donated by Atlantic City Electric to community organizations throughout southern New Jersey , including this year's primary beneficiaries:
American Heart Association
The American Heart Association (AHA) is a nonprofit health agency whose mission is: "Building healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke." Through volunteer efforts and donations of money, AHA increases knowledge about cardiovascular disease and stroke by supporting the development of beginning investigators and offering innovative funding mechanisms to stimulate research in promising science areas. AHA’s goals include reducing the death rate from coronary heart disease and stroke by 25 percent, reducing the prevalence of smoking, high blood cholesterol and physical inactivity by 25 percent, reducing the rate of uncontrolled high blood pressure by 25 percent, and eliminating the growth of obesity and diabetes. Thanks in part to the American Heart Association’s research program, it’s estimated there are more than 10 million survivors of heart disease, stroke and cardiovascular-related surgery in America today.
American Red Cross
The American Red Cross is a nonprofit, independent, humanitarian, voluntary organization that ensures nationwide disaster planning, preparedness, community disaster education, mitigation, and response that provides the American people with quality services delivered in a uniform, consistent, and responsive manner.
American Red Cross responds to disasters such as hurricanes, floods, earthquakes, and fires, or other situations that cause human suffering or create human needs that those affected cannot alleviate without assistance. All Red Cross assistance is given free of charge, made possible by the generous contribution of people's time, money, and skills.
Clean Ocean Action
Clean Ocean Action (COA) is a nonprofit broad-based coalition of 125 business, community, conservation, environmental, fishing, boating, diving, student, surfing, women's, and service groups. These "Ocean Wavemakers" work to clean up and protect the waters of New York/New Jersey coast. The groups investigate sources, effects, and solutions of ocean pollution. Under the guidance of COA's Board of Trustees, COA's staff researches pollution issues affecting the marine environment, then formulates policy and campaigns to eliminate each pollution source. The staff then coordinates and organizes the Ocean Wavemakers (participating organizations, concerned businesses, educators for a clean ocean, and concerned citizens) to use their individual experience and expertise to help. Press events, rallies, writing letters, making phone calls, testifying at public hearings, and distributing literature are just some of the ways members of the coalition become involved. Clean Ocean Action has created new powerful clean water laws, a greater public awareness of the ocean and its improved health and helped to close eight ocean dumpsites.
Contributions are encouraged from those who do not wish to be a sponsor, but want to contribute to these worthy causes.
