    Aug 11, 2015

MAYS LANDING, N.J. – On behalf of the PHI Community Foundation, Atlantic City Electric will hold its 10th Annual Charity Golf Classic on Sept. 21 at the Galloway National Golf Club in Galloway, N.J. All proceeds raised by the foundation will benefit this year’s Golf Classic recipients, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) For Children and the Val Skinner Foundation-LIFE LPGA Pros in the Fight.

The LPGA’s Val Skinner, Cindy Rarick and Jan Stephenson will participate in this year’s event.

Since its inception in 2006, the PHI Community Foundation’s Atlantic City Electric Golf Classic has raised more than $1.1 million for nonprofit organizations in South Jersey. The PHI Community Foundation donates funds to organizations that help support the community in the areas of health, youth development, educational support and low income advocacy.

Big Brothers Big Sisters’ mission is to provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring professionally supported relationships that can change their lives for the better. Big Brothers Big Sisters mentoring programs set the standard for mentoring best practices for the children it serves. The community-based mentoring and school-based mentoring programs serve children in Burlington, Camden, Cumberland, Gloucester and Salem counties.

CASA for Children has served children since 2001 with the mission to speak on behalf of abused and neglected children in the foster care system. The organization is dedicated to ensuring these children are placed in safe permanent homes as quickly as possible. Funding from the Atlantic City Electric Golf Classic will support CASA’s Family Search and Connect training for CASA volunteers and staff designed to help young people find valuable connections that will empower them, gain self-esteem and help in the transition from foster care to independent living.

The Val Skinner Foundation’s mission is to help eliminate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease while focusing on reaching younger women with information about the importance of early detection and healthy breast care practices. The Val Skinner Foundation, led by LPGA veteran and founder Val Skinner, co-conceptualized the young women's initiative with Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the Cancer Institute of New Jersey. Funding from the Atlantic City Electric Golf Classic will support the foundation’s “Young Women’s Initiative,” designed to educate young women on breast cancer awareness, risks and early detection.

This year’s title sponsor is Cooper Levenson. The presenting sponsor is Montgomery, McCracken, Walker & Rhoads LLP. Platinum sponsors include Arthur R. Henry Inc., IBEW Local Union 351, Kline Construction and P.J. Martini & Associates.
