• Crews Restoring Service Amid Sustained Wind and Rain

    Restoration Continues Despite Harsh Weather Conditions

    MAYS LANDING, N.J. – Crews continued to restore service to Atlantic City Electric customers Monday after heavy wind and rain swept through the region late Sunday evening and persisted throughout the day Monday.

    With gusts of up to 40 mph expected to continue into Tuesday, crews will continue working through the night to restore service as quickly and safely as possible. Additional crews are being called in from other areas to assist in the restoration.

    As the weather improves on Tuesday, Atlantic City Electric expects to make significant progress restoring service, with the aim of restoring as many customers as possible by late Tuesday evening. The company expects to have nearly all customers back in service by late Wednesday. Because of the extent of the damage from high winds, heavy rain and flooding, there may be some instances where individual or small groups of customers may not be restored until Thursday.

    The areas hit the hardest by this storm have been Atlantic, Cape May, Ocean, and Salem counties.

    Outages were largely caused by downed trees, limbs and wires. The sustained harsh weather posed a challenge. As crews restored service, additional outages were reported. In some instances the sustained high winds created hazardous conditions and impeded the restoration effort.

    Atlantic City Electric reminds the public that if they see a downed line, assume that it is energized and extremely dangerous. They should not touch the line, but should stay clear and report it to Atlantic City Electric by calling 1-800-833-7476.
