Charitable Organization Receives Food and Funds to Support Families in Southern N.J.
MAYS LANDING, N.J. – Atlantic City Electric employees recently presented 1100 hundred pounds of food and a check to the Community Food Bank of New Jersey, Southern Branch. The presentation was made at the Food Bank’s warehouse in Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey.
Food and donations were collected at the utility’s Glassboro, Winslow, Mays Landing and Pleasantville offices under the direction of the company’s Volunteer Initiative Program (VIP). “The VIP is committed to caring for our communities by giving time and talent to organizations like the Food Bank. We are proud that our employees have chosen to support this organization for it has made a tremendous contribution to raising the awareness of hunger and poverty in our communities,” said Atlantic City Electric Region Vice President Charlie Wimberg.
Margie Barham, Executive Director of Community Food Bank of New Jersey, Southern Branch said, “The generosity of Atlantic City Electric and its caring employees continues to have a direct result, especially during these economically challenging times, on the wellbeing of those in our area who struggle to feed their families. We greatly appreciate their support.”
The Community Food Bank of New Jersey distributes an average of 95,000 pounds of groceries each week and more than 5 million pounds a year to over 300 of its client member emergency food pantries, soup kitchens and shelters in Atlantic, Cape May, Cumberland and parts of Burlington counties.
