Basic Generation Service (BGS)
Since passage and implementation of the Electric Discount and Energy Competition Act (EDECA) in 1999, there have been many changes brought about by the deregulation of the electric energy industry in New Jersey. Since that time, customers in New Jersey have been able to choose their electrical supplier. Customers who do not choose to switch to a Third Party Supplier (TPS), or who leave a TPS to return to their Electric Delivery Company are supplied with Basic Generation Service (BGS).
BGS is the default electric supply service provided by Atlantic City Electric.
