Company and Authority Partner for Wind
A few years ago, Atlantic City Electric partnered with the Atlantic County Utilities Authority on a venture that would generate clean, renewable energy to power a new wastewater treatment plant in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
Once constructed, the five 380-foot turbines and the power they were generating were connected to an existing Atlantic City Electric substation, allowing for the clean energy to then be used to power the wastewater treatment plant as well as feed excess power to the regional electrical grid. This was done through a process that Atlantic City Electric calls Green Power Connection™.
In addition, Atlantic City Electric gave nearly two million dollars to help fund the $12 million wind farm project.
“Atlantic City Electric recognizes the need for a portion of our energy supply to come from clean, renewable resources, such as solar and wind,” said Ken Parker, president, Atlantic City Electric. “Our support for this wind farm is one step among several that we are taking toward investing in a cleaner, greener New Jersey.”
Turning the Tide on Trash
Atlantic City Electric is a proud sponsor of the annual Coastal Cleanup and Fall Beach Sweeps, both are, community efforts held in partnership with environmental groups throughout the region to remove trash and debris from beach and riverbank locations in southern New Jersey.
